Berlin - According to study, the “violence against women” helpline has established itself. Awareness of the offer is comparatively high, announced the publication of the first results of the investigation carried out on his behalf today.
According to this, around 60 percent of affected women search for advice on the Internet and come across the help line. In nine out of ten cases contact is actually made by phone and only in the remaining cases via the Internet.
According to the results, the helpline workers advise women directly affected by violence in 70 percent of cases. Supporters (21 percent) and skilled workers (6 percent), on the other hand, make up smaller proportion.
With the offer, which is available around the clock, it was possible to close gap in the existing help system, it said. Since March 2013, more than 200,000 people have been advised by the helpline.
Federal Minister of Women Franziska Giffey (SPD) said that the helpline is indispensable, especially in the corona crisis. Experts currently fear an increase in domestic violence.
"Even in times of Corona, women who are affected by violence must get the help they need," said Giffey. Therefore, everything is done to maintain the operation and functionality of the offer.
She also agreed with the federal states that hotels and vacant holiday apartments can be used unbureaucratically to accommodate women who are affected, should women's shelter capacities be exhausted.
