A good doctor is someone who keeps his nerve and looks after his patients in spite of Professor Lauterbach talking and complaining and presumptuous boss of the AOK. The political and cash functionary environment is actually the most stressful thing in our profession. It is not really difficult to meet the patient with empathy and to help him effectively with the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities that we have today. A successful independent doctor must be an entrepreneur so that profitability is guaranteed in the interests of the health insurers and the patient. But the decisive factor is the interest in the person he has in front of him. Then an empathic encounter usually arises as prerequisite for successful treatment.
