Wiesbaden - For the first time in many years there are significantly more malnourished people in the world. The Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden reported this today with view to World Food Day on October 16.
According to estimates by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (), around 815 million people were chronically undernourished last year. It was last eight years earlier (2008) with almost 832 million malnourished people.
Between 2003 and 2014, the number of those affected fell continuously - from 947 to 775 million. In 2015 there was already slight increase to 777 million.
