Berlin - This year around 74 million euros are available for promoting health self-help. This emerges from response () by the federal government to small question (18/8605) by the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group. This promotion of health self-help groups, organizations and contact points is unprecedented in international comparison, it goes on to say.
According to the Federal Government, the Robert Koch Institute () currently goes from 70,000 to 100,000 in its health report Self-help groups with around three million participants. In Germany there are also 296 self-help contact points and support points with an additional 46 branch offices.
According to the government, the size of the self-help groups and organizations varies widely. In Hamburg, for example, the self-help groups have between 4 and 790 members. Umbrella associations or nationwide self-help organizations would have up to around 50,000 members.
