Dortmund - For the coming winter semester there are around 70,000 applications for study place in the subjects of medicine and pharmacy. That was about 2,000 more than year ago, said the former ZVS on Tuesday in Dortmund. Applications for the numerus clausus subjects medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacy must be submitted to the foundation. In the past winter semester, 13,458 places were offered for these courses. The number of study places will be slightly higher for the coming winter semester, said spokesman.
20 percent of the places will be awarded to current school leavers based on the Abitur average. In order to be accepted directly, you have to have an average of good ones. Another 20 percent will be awarded after waiting. The universities themselves then choose the other candidates from the remaining applicants.
In the new online procedure for courses With local admission restrictions, the foundation accepted 163,000 applications. 47 of 170 possible universities with 176 subjects are now taking part in the process. The aim is to simplify the allocation of places. This process started last year with 47 universities. Due to technical difficulties connecting the universities, the start was delayed by year. There is strong demand for the psychology course in this process.
