Berlin - SARS-CoV-2 infections have been detected in 44 residents of building complex in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin. Due to "some" corona cases, the health department carried out extensive tests on contact persons there last week, spokeswoman for the district announced today.
The 37 households concerned were therefore quarantined. The people had no symptoms. Children were also among the infected, it said. Schools, daycare centers and youth leisure facilities as well as school and daycare supervisors were informed immediately.
"At the schools concerned and Daycare centers are now also being offered tests, ”the spokeswoman continued. The people in quarantine would be supplied with food and hygiene items by the district office. The Tagesspiegel had previously reported on the case.
The district initially did not provide any further information on possible reasons for the accumulation of cases in the building near the Ostbahnhof. It was initially not known whether there might be connection to the current outbreak in Berlin-Neukölln with almost 100 confirmed cases.
There are around 370 households in seven locations under quarantine; Cross connections to other districts were suspected.
