Berlin - 28 new synthetic drugs have been banned in Germany since Thursday. The inclusion of the substances in the Narcotics Act should protect consumers from the "incalculable health risks" associated with their consumption, explained Mechthild Dyckmans (FDP).

The regulation that came into force on Thursday concerns chemical modifications of known psychoactive substances such as amphetamines , Cannabinoids and cocaine. These substances are sometimes also referred to as "designer drugs" and, according to information from the drug commissioner, are sold under trivializing names such as "herbal mix" or "room air freshener". Dyckmans announced the ban on further chemical intoxicants.
Dyckmans pointed to sometimes severe health consequences On the other hand: The symptoms ranged from nausea, violent vomiting, palpitations and loss of orientation, circulatory failure and fainting, to paralysis and delusions.
