Frankfurt am Main - After the service of free church in Frankfurt am Main on May 10, 200 people from the community's surroundings had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by yesterday.
They lived 57 in Frankfurt, the others lived in seven surrounding districts, said spokeswoman for the Frankfurt health department. Nine people are currently being treated as inpatients in hospitals, one in intensive care.
Last weekend, the infections were in became known to the Gospel Christian Baptist Congregation. A spokesman for the congregation had stated at the time that all requirements for church services had been met.
In an information letter published at the beginning of the week, however, there was talk of congregational singing. Nose and mouth masks were apparently not worn either.
As it became known today, dozens of believers in Pentecostal church in Bremerhaven are also sick. At church services in the free church, 44 believers from Bremerhaven and the surrounding area were infected by Friday noon, said city spokesman.
The crisis team assumed that the number of cases would continue to increase in the next few days. "Not all test results are available yet," said the spokesman. Two people are in the hospital. More than 100 community members from Bremerhaven and the district of Cuxhaven are in quarantine.
