Beirut - Italy and the UN refugee agency want to support the health care of Syrian refugees in Lebanon with 1.9 million dollars (1.7 million euros). The Italian ambassador in Lebanon, Massimo Marotti, and UNHCR country representative Mireille Girard signed corresponding agreement, as the Lebanese Daily Star reported today.

According to UNHCR, around 940,000 recognized Syrian refugees live in Lebanon. The Lebanese secret service puts the number of officially recognized Syrian refugees in the four-million-person country at 1.3 million.
