Munich “141,000 euros for an antibody study on the coronavirus has been promised by the Bavarian Ministry of Science.
The aim is to bring an effective passive vaccination to clinical use. In addition, the antibodies should help in the treatment of those who are already infected.
n the long term, these antibodies will rper can be used, among other things, to prevent more serious symptoms in COVID-19 patients and to reduce the number of patients treated in intensive care units, said project manager Hans-Martin Jäck from the Erlangen University Hospital.
The researchers were able to already obtain human antibodies from mouse immunized with Sars-CoV-2. For widespread use, however, according to the Ministry of Science, more antibodies have to be produced and clinically tested.
