Berlin - 121 hospitals in rural regions will receive supply surcharge of 400,000 euros in the coming year. The German Hospital Society () and the Association of Private Health Insurance () have agreed on this.
"Many people in rural areas benefit directly from our decision," said Stefanie Stoff-Ahnis, board member at the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds . They would have primary care hospital in their area, which definitely provides internal medicine, surgery and / or obstetrics.
GKV-Spitzenverband, DKG and PKV-Verband are implementing legal mandate with this decision. To this end, they agree annually on list of hospitals that meet the criteria set by the Federal Joint Committee ().
According to these criteria, necessary basic care hospitals are to be taken into account, each with specialist department for internal medicine and surgery and hospitals that have an obstetrical department.
The surcharge for necessary rural hospitals is also then paid out if the relevant clinics do not have deficit. In contrast to last year, five new hospital locations have been added to the funding list, four hospital locations have been deleted from the list.
"The corona pandemic has shown how important comprehensive and well-functioning hospital care is," explained DKG General Manager Georg Baum. The security surcharges made contribution to finance the necessary holdings. The instrument must become even more important in the future.
