Berlin - Even over the Easter holidays, the resident doctors in Germany guarantee nationwide care. The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians () and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVen) have pointed this out. Citizens with acute complaints can contact their on-call doctor or KV operations center via the nationwide uniform free number 116117 Cases for the KV RegioMed on-call practices or the medical on-call service ”, explained Peter Noack, CEO of KV Brandenburg. He pointed out that in life-threatening cases, however, the number 112 would still apply to the emergency services.
The number of the medical on-call service 116117 is valid nationwide without an area code and can be dialed from the landline or mobile phone. According to the KBV, more than 6.2 million callers have used the number in the past five years. Nevertheless, it is still unknown to many citizens. The KBV therefore announced that it would make the number even better known with posters and radio spots as part of the “We like to work for your life” campaign. There will also be nationwide day of outpatient on-call service on October 11th. "If even more citizens know the medical on-call service of the KVs and the on-call number 116117, they will know that they do not have to go to the hospital emergency rooms in all cases," said KBV CEO Andreas Gassen.
In Thuringia, according to the KV, more than 600 outpatient doctors are on standby over Easter. Callers can reach the KV switching center via 116117. There, medically trained staff will organize doctor's home visit depending on the urgency, alert the ambulance service or inform the patient about the nearest emergency consultation hour.
KV Schleswig-Holstein has set up similar service: The control center of the KV in Bad Segeberg. Competent medical specialists assess the patient's situation and refer them to an open practice in their region. According to KV 31, there are general medical and twelve pediatric medical practices that are located at hospitals in Schleswig-Holstein.
