As part of the 11th revision of the International Classification of and related health problems (ICD) has called on the World Health Organization (WHO) to comment on the beta version and initiated the scientific review process. The ICD is used worldwide to encrypt diagnoses; ICD-10 is currently in force.
The revision of the ICD is intended to ensure an internationally coherent classification and easy integration into IT system environments. In Germany, DIMDI is involved in the further development as an official cooperation center of the WHO. WHO and DIMDI recommend German experts to participate in the review process to ensure that national requirements are taken into account. A one-time registration on the WHO website is necessary for this (links under www.dimdi.de). Adoption by the World Health Assembly is scheduled for 2017. When the ICD-11 will be introduced in Germany is still open. KBr
