Around third of all reports of work-related illnesses concern the skin. The prevention of skin diseases is therefore of great importance. After all, every 20th employee develops problems with the skin, according to the 10th Krefeld Skin Protection Day. Young people are very often affected at the beginning of their professional careers. The main stress factors are wet work, contact with irritants and chemicals as well as allergens, physical effects and UV radiation.
It is therefore essential to ensure consistent skin protection. It is important to have adequate hand hygiene in work areas such as the food industry, skin-friendly skin cleansing for heavy soiling, the use of skin protection products that must be tailored to the stresses prevailing in the workplace, and consistent skin care. This should be heeded in particular if very frequent and intensive hand cleaning is necessary in everyday professional life, the natural skin barrier is stressed and cannot regenerate quickly enough.
